Who We Are

What is the Sacred Order of Living Paganism, Inc.? It is best to begin to describe who we are by explaining who we are not. We are not a coven, a tradition or a church. We are an open religious order of men and women who desire an intense study and practice of Paganism. Any person who wishes to begin or intensify their study of Pagan beliefs and practices can become a member of the Order while still remaining a solitary or a member of any other Pagan group.

Specifically, we exist to:

The Order does not require that you study and practice in one and only one tradition or method. You are free to develop your own personal practice. We exist to provide ways to deepen your practice with support and encouragement.

The Order, as a whole, is comprised of separate groups called Academies (teaching groups) or Circles (organizational structures which include Academies). Teaching can also take place online with a tutor.

If this type of learning and practice interests you, we invite you to explore our sight and consider joining us. You can contact a current Circle and ask how you can join or you can begin study with an academy or study online.

The Three Principles

The Three Principles (or Pillars) are the statements of believe for the Order.

I. Sources: we believe that Earth, all being, and all things, being part of a single source we call Spirit, are sacred.

II. Choices: We believe that we each have the right to make our own choices in spiritual and other matters so long as, to the best of our ability, harm is not caused either to ourselves, to others, or to Earth.

III. Cycles: We believe that Spirit exists as a cosmic force of ever changing cycles manifested in nature and in our lives and that we should celebrate and honor those cycles through observance and ritual.

The Five Precepts

The Order defines the Five Precepts as the guiding document of ethical living for its members. As Sisters and Brothers of the Sacred Order of Living Paganism, we will work to affirm and uphold:

1) Reverence: Knowing that all things are sacred, we vow to live as we will to our full potential without seeking to cause harm to ourselves, to others, or to Earth.

2) Respect: Knowing that all beings are worthy of respect, we vow to honor and promote all others who seek to live in peace with themselves, all beings, and Earth.

3) Reason: Knowing that reason is a part of the spiritual quest, we vow to live by the right intent of our higher selves.

4) Responsibility: Knowing that that we are responsible to ourselves and to others and that all actions have consequences, we vow to live and act always with honor.

5) Revelry: Knowing that a spiritual person celebrates life, we vow to live in joy.
